Thank you to all Lions that attended the District Convention as there were quite a few amendments to the Constitution and By-Laws that needed to be vetted this year. Due to the fact that the By-Laws Committee chaired by Michael Haws was able to visit a few clubs and board meetings before the convention this made the process easier and less time consuming.
On April 28 the Rhode Island Lions Sight Foundation, Central Falls Lions Club and the Masons joined together to open the Abby Lawton Eye Clinic. During the open house residents of the community were welcomed in to have vision screening. This is going to be a great addition to Central Falls and to the surrounding communities for vision screening and eye care.
The second annual District bowling tournament took place and the new champions for the year is a team from Scituate. Thank you to all the Lions that attended, donated items , bought raffle tickets or came just to cheer on your team. A great time was had by all and thank you George Areson for organizing this great event. Proceeds went to Sight Foundation and Rhode Island Lions Children’s Cancer Fund.
How quickly my year as District Governor is coming to a close. I would like to attend any event, especially service projects that will fit into my schedule so please remember to keep the District informed and LCI about all the great things that your club will be doing or has already completed. We may be a small state but you are all great Lions that do amazing and wonderful things within your communities and for the District.
With the elections having taken place during convention I am looking forward to all the wonderful things that will take place under the leadership of DGE Chris Caluori, 1st VDGE Michael Haws and 2nd VDGE Steven Fabrizio.
